Can I take Udo's Choice whilst pregnant or breastfeeding?

A. Yes - it should be a priority whilst pregnant! A developing foetus has heightened nutritonal needs, especially for essential fatty acids. If a mother to be does not include sufficient EFAs in her meals, the foetus' needs will cause her to drain herself of omega 3. This often causes worsened post-natal mood swings from a "drained brain". By ensuring a good supply, not only does the mother nourish her child, she also safeguards her ongoing sanity.

Another fabulous reason to keep good fats high when pregnant is the benefits of skin suppleness - well fed skin is less likely to stretch and scar in the same way dry, brittle skin is and when the baby is born, should return to its former glory more promptly.

A. Probably not. There is a limited number of people who will benefit from additional fish oils whilst using Udo's. This will manifest as continuing skin complaints after several months use, and it is down to either genetic or environmental factors interfering with the blend.

Should I take any vitamins and minerals whilst using the oil?

A. Vitamins and minerals should be seen as a way to improve on an already good diet consisting of large amounts of fruit and vegetables daily. As there are many co-factors involved in fats metabolism, it is important to ensure a good supply of vitamins or minerals through supplementation or diet in order to attain the greatest benefit from Udo's.

How do I know my Udo's is fresh?

A. We take the utmost care to ensure you receive the oil in the best possible condition. If the oil has been compromised in any way, it can be bitter, and has become less healthful. We are confident that you should never have to experience this bitterness, so should you receive a bottle of Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend and are not 100% satisfied with the quality of the oil, return it to the point of purchase for a full refund or exchange (to be able to recognise this taste you can take a small amount of oil and put it in an open container. Leave this on the side, in the sunlight preferably, for a week. If you then try it you will notice a bitter, unpleasant taste that you need to learn to avoid).

Is the oil free from pollution?

A. Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend has been shown to have far lower levels for pollutants such as PCBs and dioxins than permitted by EU regulations. As it is organic there is a far greater control over what can go into the oil than there is with fish oils.

How long will a bottle of oil last me?

A. Everybody enjoys different amounts of oil, but on average, a bottle should last two to four weeks with regular use.

What is the cloudy layer at the bottom of the oil?

I've just starting using Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend, and it gave me slight nausea, what's happening?

Don't worry, you aren't coming to any harm; simply reduce the amount of oil you are having at any one time. Ideally, use smaller amounts of oil through the day to help to enjoy the full benefits.

I've always been told fats makes me fat, and when I look at the nutritonal information all I see is fat! Will taking Udo's make me put on weight?

Can I use Udo's in my post workout protein shake?

Yes, in fact, it should be encouraged. Post workout (PWO) drinks are seen as an optimal time for fuelling recovery. To this end fat has often been seen as the wrong thing to include, as it slows the gastric (stomach) emptying, and would therefore slow down the protein on it's way to your muscles. However, the actual effect of fat on gastric emptying is quite different in practice. It does not slow down the initial release of protein, however does make the release last for longer. This means that protein is reaching your muscles as quickly as without fat, however, it also means that your protein drink is giving you a more sustained release of protein, keeping you in positive nitrogen balance for longer.

Though initially made popular by Bodybuilders looking to strip fat for competition, Udo's Choice is relevant for all athletic pursuits - Rugby, Football, Triathlon, Cylcling, Swimming, Weight Lifting, and more!

I keep reading that I should use fish oils to help my training, how is Udo's different?

Fish oils are excellent providers of the long chain Omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. These fats have similar roles in inflammation to the short chain fatty acids that are found in Udo's. However, Udo's Choice also works harder to create a favourable ratio of Omega 3:6, and also provides the base EFAs that have roles above and beyond those of the long chain EPA and DHA. Used at the recommended amount, there is also sufficient conversion of short chain ALA into long chain EPA and DHA to more than cover the body's needs.

I prepare all my food in advance, but Udo's needs to be kept refrigerated, what should I do?

The key part of keeping Udo's Choice refrigerated is that it is kept chilled for the majority of the time. If you prepare food for the next day, and it is out of the fridge for that day as you get through your meals, this is fine.

How may of my meals should I have Udo's in?

It is always best to try and spread Udo's Choice through as many meals as you can - be it 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or more! This ensures that you get the most benefit from the metabolic effects of Udo's Choice, and also reduces the processing load on the liver at any one sitting. However, if you find it more convenient to just include it in 1 or 2 meals a day, that is fine, just be sure that you don't have a huge amount at one meal without building up to it, as your liver will need to process it, and you could end up feeling sluggish/nauseous afterwards.

I tend to take Udo's off the spoon - is this ok?
