Does Udos Oil make you live forever ?

Udo's - The Elixir of Youth? If you need convincing about how great Udos Choice Ultimate Oil Blend is for dieting and keeping skin young and supple, then you should find out about Dave Fisher. Featured in the BBC1 documentary "Make me Live Forever" and in the Daily Mail on 17 February 2009, viewers were astonished by how young Dave looked. Most interviewed guessed his age at around 35, YET HE IS ACTUALLY 51!

In order to achieve this, Dave has chosen to eat just 1600 calories a day, but still makes sure to get his daily Udos in his quest for remaining young and healthy. He was seen adding Udos Oil to his fabulous looking salads.

Whilst we wouldn't necessarily recommend such a drastic low calorie lifestyle, the programme showed that Udos has a powerful effect on the way we look and feel!

Together with the many health benefits of Udos Choice Ultimate Oil Blend, it is known for effectively moisturising the skin from the inside keeping the skin young looking and fresh.

Introducing the Thorntons - A Diary of an Udos Choice Family

We would like to introduce you to the Thornton family. Jill, John and their 3 children are all taking Udos Choice Ulitmate Oil Blend and have agreed to keep a diary of the effects they experience over the coming months. Each month we will catch up with them and share with you what they say. Here is their first report:

The Thornton Family

Hello, We are the Thornton family. We would like to tell you individually what effects we have noticed from taking Udos.

Mother

Jill. I teach Pilates to 120 people every week. Though I am fit, I feel Udos has made a difference in the following ways:- My joints feel more supple. My body feels generally more oiled, if that makes sense! I have three persistent patches of eczema. If I stop taking Udos these reappear within a couple of days. My skin looks simply radiant, so I am always being told! I have noticed a real difference in my concentration when taking Udos. I am always extolling the virtues of Udos to my Pilates clients, many of whom, from my endorsement, are now absolute devotees.

Father

John. I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist. I have started to suffer with Joint problems. I have until now been taking Glucosomine. At my wife’s insistence, I have just started taking Udos. I don’t think I can comment yet, since I feel it may be a couple of months until I feel any different.

Sons

Alexander Age 25. I started taking Udos almost 1 year ago. I used to have dry dull looking skin. I can see the difference. My skin positively glows, as I am constantly being told by other people. Friends have started taking Udos purely because they see such a difference in me and want to look the same.

James Age 24. I started taking Udos 3 months ago. My skin feels less dry, and looks less tired. I feel my concentration has improved. I would like to comment again in a months time, since for me I feel it is early days.

Miles Age 18. I started taking Udos 9 months ago. My main reason was to try to improve my concentration, since this is my ‘A’ level year, and I am dyslexic. I feel my concentration has improved and I have just achieved 7 ‘A’ grades in my ‘A’ level modules. I am pleased, and my parents are ‘over the moon’. I am a sports man and also do many martial arts. My body, joints and skin are in great shape. I have found mixing Udos with a Protein shake after vigorous exercise has helped me put on lean body mass. Before taking Udos I found it almost impossible to build lean mass.

Recovering from a serious injury

After suffering a horrible injury to his right arm John Buckland keeps a diary of how his recovery is going and puts Udo's Oil to the test.

John Buckland recovers from his torn Bicep with Udo's ChoiceNovember 2009 Entry

Whilst training, I painfully gained another experience to add to those I have already chalked up over the years - I tore my bicep.

Apparently only 5% of all bicep ruptures occur at the elbow. So I heard the usual shearing and tearing noise which accompanies such an event and the subsequent swelling and pain.

It turns out I am one of the unlucky 17% of the population who has an a/c joint that angles downwards towards the Shoulder joint closing up the space in which the tendons run, increasing the likelihood of impingement. I therefore had the additional pleasure of shoulder surgery.

Due to one thing and another the time that elapsed between tearing my bicep and having reconstructive surgery was around 7 weeks, so I had already lost significant size in my upper arm. In this time period I continued to lift, dumbbell bench press, shoulder press and over hand grip deadlift, squats etc - lifts where the bicep doesnít play a key role.

Itís now been 2 weeks since having surgery and I fully expected to be in a cast for 6 weeks, which would keep my arm bent. However, I am pleased to say I am ahead of the game, being in a sling which allows some elbow movement.

I am still using crush grippers and am training legs, with leg extensions, leg press, Hamstring curls and calf raises, using as much weight as I can but aiming for 15- 20 reps per set. Keeping reps high and working in a HIT style in an attempt to keep my calorie burning up. The shoulder is sore which has stopped me squatting

Diet

As for my diet I am eating reasonably clean, as getting fat is not acceptable... period! So I am watching my intake. I am really guzzling the essential fats, the omega 3, 6 & 9. I am a strong believer in essential fats ( EFA's) and as such only eat the best, none of this margarine with added omega 3. UDO's oil blend is the best you can get and I am downing a bottle a week.

Essential fatty acids (EFA's), linoleic acid and Alpha-linolenic acid are essential (hence the name) for optimum human health. And our body requires us to consume these daily and in the right ratios.

The Omega oils, found in Udo's oil, are essential for energy production, regulation of cell functions, healing of tissue injuries, sprains & bruises. Essential fats increase metabolic rate, increase stamina, substantially shorten the time required for fatigued muscles to recover after exercise, facilitate the conversion of lactic acid into water and carbon dioxide and reduce inflammation. Now this last point is the most interesting for me. EFA's modulate and mediate the inflammatory pathway and through a series of complex biological functions reduce inflammation. This is why I am using so much right now. I have used Udo's like this before, during times of injury, nothing quite as serious as this but it did improve my healing and recovery time.

To this end I decided not to take any pain killers at all and have not taken any anti-inflammatory drugs at all. So I am really putting UDO's oil to the test.

Along with my UDO's I am using Beyond greens another Superfood made by Udo and getting plenty of Protein down my neck, with chicken, fish, some steak and protein powder too.

I will post more articles and pics so you can see how my recovery is going and how my rehab goes.

World Record Holding Cyclist praises Udo's Oil

Anthony GalvanThe US cyclist, Antony Galvan who holds the Masters World Record for a kilometre time trial, was US National Champion in 2004 and Silver medalist at the World Championships in the same year has expressed his delight at the effect Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend has had on his body. He has also been competing in other endurance sports like Triathlon and Marathon races and has been an endurance athlete since 1990.

Antony Says about Udo's oil:

“I am convinced that this oil has been the key to a "transformation" in my physical fitness. Better still, it feels like the longer I’m on the oil, the better things get! I’m convinced that as the inflammation in my body reduces (as a direct result of using the oil) my body will continue to improve. I’m absolutely beside myself with excitement at this prospect! My power output has not only remained but INCREASED, my energy levels are unbelievably solid and my endurance has drastically increased.”

Udos Oil wins Men's Health Supplement Award 2009

Men's HealthIn their annual awards where a panel of Britain's leading Nutritionists and Trainers judge the merits of supplements available in the UK, Men's Health have judged Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend the Winner in the category of "Best for Losing Weight".

The panel found that the "healthy fats" (Omega 3 Alpha Linolenic Acid - ALA and Omega 6 Linoleic Acid - LA) that make up Udo's Oil are an important factor in the battle to lose weight. They also approved of the the quality of its ingredients and the fact that, unlike fish oils (which do not contain ALA or LA anyway) Udos Oil does not smell like a fishmonger!

Interview with Helen Jenkins - Her and her nutrition !

Helen JenkinsUnlike 10 years ago, nearly every issue of sports related magazines has a section on nutrition nowadays. For any budding sports man or woman in any discipline it has become increasingly accepted that to reach their potential they need to ensure that their nutritional regime supports, not thwarts their physical training regime. The body can only work as well as the cells that make it up allow it to and it is the cells that are affected by what we eat.

Q. How did it all start?
HJ. I was a swimmer when I was younger and around age 16 the opportunity to take part in a triathlon came up. I loved having the variety of the three sports to train at, and it helped that I did well in my first few races!

Q. What was it like to win the ITU World Championship 2008
HJ. It was unbelievable! I still can’t believe I did it. I broke away on the bike with Sarah Haskins, an American athlete, we were side by side for the whole 10k run, so just to cross that finish line a couple of seconds in front was amazing.

Q. Was that the best feeling you have had in your racing career so far?
HJ. Winning Worlds! But also when I qualified for the Olympics at the Madrid World Cup (I came 2nd) it was so emotional, knowing all the hard work had paid off, and all the people who helped me so much, their efforts into helping me prepare were worth it.

Q. What is your main goal this year?
HJ. The new ITU World Championship Series. Our World Championship is now decided over a series rather than a one off race. So I’m aiming to race consistently throughout the season and hopefully have my best race at the Grand Final in September in Australia

Q. How do you feel you got on in Korea? – are you where you want to be in your build up for this year’s events.
HJ. I came 14th in Korea, the first World Champs Series race. I’m happy with the result off the training I’ve done. But I’m hoping each race will now improve as the season goes on and my training becomes more race specific.

Q. Are you a naturally disciplined person or do you have to have someone shouting at you or pushing you?
HJ. I’m pretty self motivated, I think that comes from years of discipline of 5am starts for morning swimming. It does help to have a group around though for the tough sessions.

Q. Off the track, do you see nutrition as an important element of your success in races?
HJ. I make an effort to eat a healthy balanced diet. I have a nutritionist on hand to help with any specifics but it’s pretty healthy! Not too much junk, but a little to treat myself!

Q. What are the key features of your dietary regime
HJ. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables to make sure I’m getting all the vitamins I need. I make sure to get correct protein requirements after hard sessions. And I also take Udos Choice Oil, which is to make sure I get all my Essential Fatty Acids in, as these sometimes gets missed from your diet when you are eating a lower fat athletes diet.

Q. What is the biggest temptation when it comes to your diet and do you ever indulge it?
HJ. Probably pick and mix sweets! I do have them every now and again! Normally as a reward for a hard training week!

Q. Were you familiar with Essential Fatty Acids and their effect on the functioning of cells in your body before Udo’s Oil?
HJ. I had heard various bits of information but not enough to start taking any notice. Then when I read about Udo’s oil I realised what a big affect the oils have on our cells. And as an athlete putting my body through lots of physical stress I decided it’s something I should really put into my diet.

Q. Athletes take Udo’s Oil in different ways. Some with cereals, soups or smoothies, some as salad dressing, in juice or on pasta. How do you take Udo’s Oil?
HJ. I’m a big fan of dips, with veggies or nachos! So I find it really handy to put the oil in with home made dips as a handy snack

Q. What advice would you give other triathletes who want to achieve what you have so far in terms of nutrition?
HJ. As athletes we need to make sure we are getting all the essentials in so the body can perform at its best, this means all the vitamins and essential fatty acids. You can really feel the difference when you are putting the correct fuel into your body.

Udo’s Choice Ultimate Oil Blend is an organic blend of cold pressed seed oils with the optimum ratio of the two Essential Fatty Acids your cells need to function at their best - Omega 3 Alpha Linoleic Acid (ALA) and Omega 6 Linolenic Acid (LA). It also contains Omega 9. A study of Danish Athletes found that a quality nutritional oil blend with the correct 2:1:1 ratio of Omega 3, 6 and 9 at 15ml per 25kg’s of body weight per day:

  • Enhanced stamina by 40-60% in athletes pushing the limits of their performance
  • Improved muscular development (anabolic)
  • Allowed more frequent training without over-training symptoms
  • Speeded recovery from exhaustion and training sessions
  • Speeded healing of injuries
  • Improved concentration
  • Improved sleep in some athletes
  • Improved cardiovascular function
  • Improved skin condition

Helen Jenkins is just one of many athletes benefiting from ensuring her diet includes all the EFA’s her body needs so that she can concentrate on performing at her best throughout this years ITU World Championship Series.
