Number 1 British Women’s triathlete secures third in World Championship Series race in Hyde Park

Saturday saw the ITU World Championship Triathlon Series come to London with all the world’s top women triathletes competing in Hyde Park.

Udo’s Choice fan Helen Jenkins, Britain’s number 1 female triathlete was vying to win on home soil and climb up the world rankings to challenge the leaders.

68 women dived into the Serpentine to swim the 1500 metre first leg of this increasingly popular spectator sport. American Laura Bennett came out of the water first after just over 19 minutes with Emma Moffatt and Andrea Hewitt, ranked 1 and 2 in the World Championship series just behind her.

Udo’s Fan Nick Beer – Elite Triathlete wins his age group race at Salford Quays Aquathlon

Udo’s fan Nick Beer – Elite Triathlete won his age group race at Salford Quays Aquathlon this last weekend and came 3rd overall. Nick told us “Forthe first time this season i felt competitive and i know, once i am fresher things will be really good. I am in a hard block of training at the moment with the main focus being the London Triathlon.

Thanks again for the Udo’s Oil, it has been a massive help getting back on track from my dreadful start to the season and recovering properly fromtraining.

Last weekend saw the 3rd race in the Udos Choice Triathlon race series and what a great race it was.  This open water event is hugely popular due to the beautiful course, the impeccable organisation – thank you to Freebird Events for that – and of course the competitors – 300 of them.

Udo’s Choice have just branched out into boxing with a sponsorship deal of up and coming Hull born boxer Tommy “Boom Boom” Coyle.  Tommy has a very impressive amateur record of 69 fights, 58 wins (12 of them knock outs), one draw and 10 losses and became national champion twice at two different weights (57kg and 60kg). Since turning professional last year at the age of just 19 Tommy has had four fights and won all four (1 by knock out).

After entering this race I knew it was going to be a challenge. But didn’t quite expect what I found…. The race was set in fantastic town just inside the state of Utah called St George.(about a 90 min drive north from Las Vegas)

The swim was set in a beautiful sandstone resevoir surrounded by snow capped mount

Driffield hosted the 2nd of the Udos Choice Triathlon Race Series this year and proved to be very competitive with the time between 1st and 3rd being just 32 seconds.  The winner this year, Peter Lynas of “TFN” finished in 53 mins 57 secs with last year’s winner Oliver Dixon of “Ceepo TFN RT” finishing 3rd.  Seperating the two was Andy Martin of “Army Triathlon Association” just 11 seconds behind the winner.  Congratulations to all three for a terrific race.
