Most of the strains in today’s microbiotics will either be from dairy or human origin. Their main difference resides in the fact that strains from dairy origin are ‘’transient’’ and do not implant in the gut while strains from human origin do. It is also of interest to know that bifidobacteria strains found in the large intestine are from human origin and that lactobacilli strains in the small intestine can either be from dairy or human origin.
