I started training at 21 years old. I started off as a cardio bunny ( a term used to describe those who predominantly use the cardio equipment at the gym). After loosing weight from a complete lifestyle change, I started reading fitness magazines and found a huge passion in weight training. I realised that I was quite strong for a lady and loved seeing my body change. After around 4 years of training and encouragement from others I then decided to compete. I loved every part of competing and seeing my body changing through each phase of my 12 week training and diet plan. Did you need lots of encouragement or were you self motivated? I am an extremely motivated person when it comes to sculpting my body and love trying new ways of improving myself.
It has to be stepping on stage for the first time. I found it so overwhelming and then placing 2nd at the British Championships was amazing, such fantastic memories and achievements that I thought I would never be able to attain!!
I train 6 days a week, shorter workouts – morning and evening – between 30 – 40 mins each session. always have 1 complete day of rest
I think the toughest part has to be remembering why you are competing. I compete as it gives me a goal to achieve and further improve the person I am, with the outcome of inspiring others. I see a lot of people forgetting that they started competing due to their passion for the sport. Never stop enjoying what you love!!
Very much from the start when I made my lifestyle changes at 21.
I got great advice off people who have competed of course as they have the direct experience. However, as you say there is a lot of great information online. There are so many ways of dieting for a show, that you have to find out what works best for you and your body type.
I increase my cardio, depending on the way I am looking and that’s the same with dieting. I do like to eat more and do more cardio!! Eggs, oats, rice, chicken, fish, turkey, veg and Udo’s Oil are the main components of my competition diet.

What do you miss most when on a strict competition diet?
I eat healthy nutritional foods all year round. I don’t really miss anything as I love the dedication and discipline involved.. I do love my sweets and ice cream though !!
What do you think of the current bodybuilding/Bodyfitness competitions in the UK and the health of the UK scene at the moment?
I think it is getting more popular fitness in general, but there are still a lot of negative views on Bodybuilding
You are going to be competing in the Bikini class in future competitions – why are you moving over to this class?
Yes I am currently changing my shape to fit the bikini class. I have chosen this as I feel my body type is more suited to the category and it just seems such fun!! The girls in the US look totally hot, they still have muscle, just not ripped, which is a more attainable look.
What is the key difference in training for Bikini as opposed to your previous comps?
For me and I say only for me, as due to having quite a lot of muscle I don’t need to train each body part anymore, i’m loving cardio based workouts and some circuit style training. It’s a lot of FUN!
You are also a Fitness Model - How tough is the Fitness Model market to get into – to get work that is?
In the UK I think it’s very tough. We are starting to see more athletic, toned women, who you can see really work hard for their bodies. I hope that magazines in the UK continue to progress. It’s such a good thing for women to see healthy fit ladies, it gives an extremely positive message for a healthy lifestyle rather than the unhealthy size zero! What overall are your key ambitions for the next 12 months?
I want to compete in the UKBFF Bikini category and represent the UK in the US one day. I want to continue with another workout series on TV – done 3 Glute training , back and shoulder training – Sky Active 281. to further inspire and motivate other women and men.
