A new study suggests that the conversion of plant based Omega 3 ALA to long chain EPA and DHA may be increased in vegans and vegetarians who do not eat fish to compensate for the lower levels of EPA and DHA in the diet.

We are pleased that this research focused on the conversion rate which is often used by the proponents of fish oil to argue against the use of plant based Omega 3 oils.  It appears that the body has the ability to adjust the conversion rate of ALA to EPA and DHA depending upon the amounts already in the body.
